Starting off with the Shell of the CCM A1.9, a Fiberglass shell with Carbon Fiber reinforcements creates a sturdy shell designed to protect from impacts. Internally, you will see several materials which are strategically placed to provide the highest level of protection available. D3O Smart Material seen throughout almost every other piece of CCM gear and is designed to dissipate impact energy in key areas. Additionally, on the internally padding is I.Q. Shion Gel which is a memory foam comfort liner with smooth contour edges to make this helmet comfortable for the goaltender. Wrapping up the internals, a Mesh Construction Sweatband is comfortable on the goaltender’s head. Further down, a Triple Density Foam Chin Cup with D3O helps with impact absorption and comfort. Finally, the cage is made of Stainless Steel and provides high impact protection for pucks that may hit this area.
